What’s Your Color? (Part 1)

Ever wonder why certain colors look better on you than others? Maybe the red dress looks really good on your girlfriend and for some reason looks hideous on you. Don’t be jealous! It’s only because you have a different undertone than she does. Fashion and make-up isn’t just gauged
by season or designer, it’s often determined by your tone. Take the following test to see which color is best for you.

Undertone Test:

1.)  In natural light, look at the veins on your arms. What color are they?

a.)   Green

b.)   Blue

2.)   What color are your hair and eyes?

a.)   Dark eyes:  brown, black, or hazel WITH black, brown, blond, red, or strawberry blond hair

b.)   Light colored eyes: blue, green, or grey WITH blond, black, or brown hair?

 Tally up your answers….

Did you answer both A? If so you’re a WARM.

Did you answer both B? If so, you’re a COOL.

If you found that you fluctuated between A and B then congratulations, you’re a NEUTRAL
tone!

Why is this important you ask? It’s no secret that we all want to look and feel our best. Based on who you ask, clothing may boost your confidence levels through the roof but if you’re wearing the wrong colors, you may be doing more harm than good. It could mean the difference
between receiving a compliment and someone assuming you’re sick. :-/

In the right colors (cosmetics and clothing):

  • Your skin tone will appear radiant and glowing
  • Your eyes will appear brighter and clearer
  • Your hair will reflect highlights
  • You appear vibrant, lively!

In the wrong colors:

  • Your skin tone will appear tired and drained
  • Your eyes may appear shadowed, dark circles
  • Teeth can appear with a slight yellow hue
  • You look tired, drab

Personally, I’ve seen a major difference in my fashion sense since I’ve discovered that I can’t wear bold, bright colors (best for COOL). My warm undertone reflects a deep brown skin tone, dark eyes, with golden undertones. Discovering your undertone is one of many steps to uncovering a world of increased self-confidence. I encourage you to find which colors which work for you as it may mean the difference between fabulous and not!

    • Not so much fashion choices as much as color choices. Take into account your hair, your eyes and your skin complexion. These three things together will tell you which colors best suit you. What color are you? 🙂
